Gee, I can't wait till next spring when I get to buy another car for one of my kids. Thanks to Obamas clunker plan I'll have 250,000 + (less choices, due to crushing.) I'll be competing with hundreds of other buyers who are in the same boat. Can't afford a new one, but don't want junk either. Imagine the thrill of negotiating the deal with an owner or salesman who knows that there are twelve other people who want this car. Think of the endless hours of wandering through junkyards trying to find a part that is too darn expensive new, and is not sold by NAPAZONE. I can hear the old guy now..."Well you know son, my Ford Explorer is kind of rare, you know they crushed all of em in 09." Wait, there is hope, I am a capitalist however. I will open my own salvage business specializing in Rare Clunker Parts!

Like most socialist BS, PObama's c-for-c plan will cost us through the nose up front and then hurt people later on.

The only folks who'll do well from this will be used/surplus parts dealers as you alluded to.

:(
Yes Virginia, the Russians are STILL the bad guys.

One time on a business trip to Japan, I saw them loading a bunch of old Toyotas onto a ship in the Akita port, for shipment across the Sea of Japan to Vladivostok.

Even with the Japanese config with the steering wheel on the right, those Ruskis appreciated something better than their government designed rust buckets.

So, I foresee a similar situation evolving with old cars from Mexico and Canada here. Seriously!

Yes, as a follow up to the shipment of cars out of country. Very large number of salvage late models are going to mexico (Being towed in 2's or 3's behind other vehicles.) I believe they are for the Mexican market, but I think some are making their way back to the States with "creative titling" and re-registration so as to appear as non salvage vehicles. This is another problem with Zero border controls and NAFTA laws.
